Our immigration group has significant experience in working with multinational corporations and foreign clients in relocating, investing or conducting business operations in Panama. Alcogal represents foreign and domestic companies, and their respective employees, in all aspects of immigration law matters, including permanent residency petitions and work permits.


Intellectual property

International trade
Our international trade group offers a unique combination of experience in the full range of regulatory issues surrounding international trade and investment, including compliance with the Panama–United States Trade Promotion Agreement, the Panama–United States Bilateral Investment Treaty, the World Trade Organization, among others.


Alcogal has extensive experience in traditional labor law. We provide specialized labor counsel in connection to mergers and acquisitions, assist clients in addressing employee benefit matters, respond to labor disputes and/or litigation on behalf of our clients and represent employers in the negotiation and administration of labor contracts with unionized work forces.


Maritime and port facilities
Our maritime group has substantial experience in shipping and maritime transportation matters. We have advised some of the world’s leading shipping and maritime companies. Among other related maritime and admiralty matters, Alcogal advises its clients in regards to the construction, registration, operation and financing of ships, barges, drilling rigs, LNG tankers and various other vessels used around the world.

Alcogal’s port facilities practice is also very strong. Given the global nature of our practice, we advise sovereigns, multinational and domestic companies, as well as leading financial institutions, in the full range services associated with port-related transactions in Panama. From public biddings to construction and operations, our team of experienced lawyers has participated in Panama’s largest port projects to date.


Alcogal employs a multidisciplinary approach to tackling our clients’ most pressing needs. Our telecommunications group works very closely with our clients in their M&er;A, banking and capital markets transactions.
