“Alemán, Cordero, Galindo & Lee was awarded firm IFLR Americas Awards 2019’s first award as the Central American capital markets firm of the year in this year’s ceremony, held in New York in May. Over 2018 the firm’s capital markets practice, led by Arturo Gerbaud, closed significant transactions in terms of profile, sophistication and value for clients such as Credit Suisse Securities, Citigroup Global Markets, Banco General, Global Bank Corporation, Crédito Real and others. What stood out however was its roles on debt offerings that brought tangible legal innovation to the market. Key examples saw the firm act as lead counsel to Promerica Financial Corporation on its successful placement of bonds in the international capital markets. It is a rare example of a multijurisdictional bank holding company, which is a majority shareholder of a network of commercial banks across Central America and beyond, tapping the international markets. Another novel deal saw the firm advise Aeropuerto Internacional de Tocumen on what was a landmark liability management operation by a Panamanian entity.”
